Another hot journey to Subotica, just a few kilometres from the Hungarian border, but some high cloud kept the worst of the sun off, and I had a dip in a lake along the way. I was only planning one night here, but the city is a real little gem with some fantastic architecture, so here I am enjoying the town square for a second evening.

There's a beautiful town hall, which seems to be closed to visitors at the moment and an art deco style modern art gallery designed by Ferenc Raichle which I did visit. It was modern and arty. I also visited a very impressive new synagogue, and tried to visit the cathedral, but that's falling apart- you can see huge fissures running down the facade. Other than that, there's several fountains and the national theatre, and lots of other quirky bits of architecture dotted around.

Expecting some storm showers tomorrow but off to Hungary tomorrow. Accommodation is about 4 times the price over the border, so I expect to be doing quite a bit of camping.
